Professor Jim Murray, Captain, USN (Ret.) served with distinction for over 26 years as an aviator and joint staff officer. As a graduate of the U.S. Naval War College and Joint Forces Staff College, Murray has held key operational and staff billets at the squadron, wing, group, numbered fleet, and combatant command levels. With substantial naval and maritime experience, Murray has held significant positions in a multitude of academic roles involved in development, presentation, and management of wide-ranging curricula, courses, programs and practical application sessions. He has over 25 years of experience developing educational syllabuses, providing instruction, managing programs as well as coaching, counseling, and mentoring to domestic and international audiences.
Murray’s experience and expertise has been instrumental in the creation of several highly effective courses to fulfill requirements of various organizations. Most specifically, he is experienced and proficient in the design of both in-person and virtual educational opportunities at all levels of staff/command. These courses have proved to be influential in the education of the student attendees as well as providing the basis for organizations to be able to develop their own cadre of future educational/training team members. Murray has also led multiple mobile training and education teams teaching planning, organization, wargaming, and leadership processes to students from varied services and countries. For his service Murray was awarded both the Meritorious and Superior Civilian Service Awards.
